Gwanaksan Forest Park

Gwanaksan Forest Park begins at the entrance of Chunguidae behind the gymnasium, covering the length of 5.6 km to Ganchon Village in Gwanyang 1-dong, and is accessible from behind Ganchon Village behind Gwanyang High School. Visitors enjoy its dense forest and nature education centers as well as the mineral springs.

629 m as a natural protective wall that surrounds the Seoul basin in double lines along with Bukhansan and Namhansan Mountains, it served as a sphere of fortress for old Seoul.

The highest peak is Yeonjudae, and Yeongdeungdae at the mountain top was the place where King Sejo held memorial services.

The mountain houses a number of temples, such as Yeongjuam, Jawangsim, Bulseongsa and Sammaksa Temples. Among these, Sammaksa Temple was where high priests of Buddhism such as Wonhyo and Uisang practiced asceticism.

The Seoul National University is located at the foot of the mountain northwest, and there is a weather radar facility of the Korea Meteorological Administration at the mountaintop.
